Citizen Burger Bar

I had the Wedge Salad with a few modification due to my dietary restriction and it was honestly the best damn salad I've eaten in a long time. Can't wait to go back and have it again.

My girlfriend and I were on a diet (trying to lose weight) so we decided to get a big fat juicy burger from citizen! Well, we split the burger and salad so we didn't feel too guilty and we were so glad we did! Our soul felt nourished with the burger and our belt line thanked us with the beet salad. The salad was actually delicious and I would order the same thing again next time I visit! Thanks for the great meal!!

Very neat interior and has good placement of TVs for watching sports. Fries were also fantastic and clearly fresh and the burger was decent. Was underwhelmed with the burgers quality as it was cooked too long (they ask red, pink, or dark, so when it wasn't cooked to my order I wasn't overly pleased given three choices). Also, staff were kind but not overly concerned with us waiting to be seated. There was an open table and they took way too long to clean and seat us. Picky last thing, but the booth tables were super high which wasn't too comfortable. Would recommend but don't really know how compares to other nearby burger spots

It was a Sunday night so it was a little slow but the food did not disappoint. Very good service and the food portions were absolutely huge. The “snacks” so they say are a meal by themselves. The burger was very good and the onion rings were huge. Definitely recommend

The entrance was littered. Interior very dark. Service poor. Food was served cold and not as ordered. I placed a to-go order for a burger and fries. I asked that the toppings be separated from the hot as I had a distance to go. The bag was brought to my table stapled at the top so I never checked. When I got home, there was no hamburger nor bun and the avocado was missing also. Very poor service. Will never go back.

The burgers here taste great. I had a good sized serving of fries, and the drinks qere3 also good.I had a pretty good experience with the staff. Even though the person at the front originally didn't understand that a service dog was allowed to sit inside, they accepted my correction very quickly and didn't make an embarrassing scene. My waitress didn't even mention him (perfect).My waitress was great, just attentive enough without trying to hover.Burgers here are on the pinker side of descriptions, so be clear what you want.If I have one complaint, I will say that occassionally when I come by the cook stacks the burger in a weird way so my ingredients are very asymmetrical. Very tasty though!

The burgers here are phenomenal! Cooked to your specifications with locally sourced ingredients, the food is fantastic. The atmosphere is busy & cozy. There is also outdoor seating if you prefer.Service is good. Once we had our food, our server returned to check how everything was. Then, we didn't see the server any more for drink refills.

The burgers were very good. The music was very loud and couldn't hear each other very well. Appreciated the extra care with cleaning.

This place have value to local farmers and food clean of hormones and pesticides. The beef to hamburger is fresh, as to as your French fries. The three onions rings are great option, and the draft beers local are one good choice. Take moments in this place. You will loooove

There is always a line to get in, and there's a reason for it! They have 2 different veggie burger patties, both of which are tasty but I like the "no bull" a little better. Great local beer selection, everything is always fresh and their truffle fries are worth a trip alone. They have a cool interior and an outdoor area for when it's nice out. The staff had always been really friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a great burger look no further.

Food and service are excellent here. Beware of ordering the appetizers. We ordered cheese fries and the peppers w/soy sauce, although awesome, the quantity was a bit much. We each ordered a different burger and all 3 were fantastic! Belts were loosening up and top buttons on the pants were being undone before leaving.

Amazing! Our server, Liza, was fantastic and was very knowledgeable, happy to answer questions. My boyfriend got a burger, the "People's Burger," I think. I got the Grilled Cheese #1. His Burger was great, my grilled cheese was the best grilled cheese ever! Got the fries as our sides, which are hand cut and delicious. Pickles are really good, too! Nice selection of drinks. I had the seasonal drink, I think it was a cucumber lime spritzer, and it was perfectly refreshing on a hot day! We're not locals, so when we visit C-ville, we don't like to repeat places right away, but would love to go back to CB.

Great lunch place. Had to sit at the bar because of the crowds. My choice was the Citizen Burger and was not disappointed at all. Great choice in the Downtown Mall.

Great beer and burger selection with gluten free and vegetarian options. I got a normal burger and it was huge so half way through I took the bun off and that's when the charcoal taste really hit me. I'm not a big fan of it but everything else rocked. No one in our party of 6 had any complaints and the variety of drinks available rocked our socks.Would definitely recommend trying them!

What a fun restaurant and bar! TVs everywhere. Great atmosphere. A little cramped IMO. I ordered People’s Choice burger. The thing was a mile high! It was a bit overcooked, but otherwise great taste. Service took a little long but that could have been due to us being a large group. Salads are huge so you may want to split with another, especially if you are going to have a burger. I would be willing to go again to try a different burger.

Great burgers are usually cooked to my liking in my experience (which is the rarer side of medium rare); most recently though it came back medium/medium well which definitely detracts from the quality of the burger. They have delicious ingredients and amazing truffle fries.Great beer list and a smattering of cocktails offered too. If you want a quality burger with great toppings and fries, this is the place.

Good burger place where everything is locally grown and home made. Very family friendly place. I think the price was worth it. Very generous with its servings. Very attentive to detail when serving and even helping with making the dinner one to remember. I would definitely go there again and have no hesitations with suggesting this place to anyone who loves to have a good burger once in a while in Virginia. I was satisfied with what I experienced and hope that others will feel the same satisfaction. Amazing! Go and enjoy a good burger

Great burger, incredible pepper appetizer. Nice waitress, slow service outside. Should've turned the heaters on a LOT sooner, it was chilly. Great atmosphere. You can take your dog there, outside only. They even have bowls for dog water.

We all loved the service. The burgers were not cooked properly for any of us but we have been enough to know that’s by far the best burger in Charlottesville on normal days. So we weren’t bothered. They remade our food and it was perfect.

Local and farm.to fork. Beautiful restaurant and friendly staff members. There is outdoor seating and its large and open. The food and drinks a so delicious. Place is always busy!

The food was absolutely delicious. The service was great. Grabbed a seat at the bar while we waited for a table and just ended up staying there, as the seats were comfortable and the space was ample. Cierra took care of us. She was great. She gave us great recommendations. The apps and food were so good. We got onion rings. So good. Then we both did burgers. I did the Exec and she did the bacon cheeseburger. Both were well prepared. All in all, 5 star experience. Can't wait to go back again.

Super helpful and friendly staff. We were offered a beer sample before ordering it. Excelllent food quality. We did hamburgers and fries as appetizers. We had the chance for a walk as they notify you by text when your table is ready.

Burgers have never tasted so delicious! Love the quality of the food here. My fav is the smokehouse burger. Love that they have Tabasco sauce to go along with your meal. Recommend showing up early or expect a long wait.

I went one time & tried the citizen burger. I ate outside & my waitress didn’t do the best however this time around I sat inside. I ordered the chicken sandwich. My food was amazing and so was my service! Thank you! I recommended this restaurant to anyone! Nice chill spot

Loved the atmosphere and the music. Fried pickles were outstanding however the first time the burger and onion rings were served they were cold. They were great about remaking it but it was over cooked and dry. People and place were great as was service. Burger not at all. One expects more from a place that calls itself a burger bar.

Fantastic! One of the best gourmet burger joints I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The service was good and the food was great. The truffle fries had good texture and flavor. The setting was great (loved the tables). It has a sports bar vibe.

This was our first time there and had high hopes based on the reviews. However, I'm not sure if we went on an off night, but the burgers we ordered (the executive and citizen burger) were not great. We ordered it pink and it certainly came pink, but it was on the dry side and perhaps old. I'm a bit confused because my sister raved about this place. The citizen fries were good. Our server provided excellent service, so there was certainly no issue there.
